Obituary

William T. Spicer (Tom), of Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday February 27, 2017 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 67.

He was born in Wilmington on August 13, 1949 to the late Samuel T. Spicer and Kathleen Cahall Spicer.

He received his GED and was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Army from 1969-1970. He received the Army Commendation Medal.

He retired from the City of New Castle where he worked as a lineman.

He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel L. Spicer.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary E. Spicer (married in Clayton, DE on 2/15/69); children, Tina (Keith) Bramble; Lori (Joseph) Haas; grandchildren, Adam, Abby, and Ari Bramble; Ashley Foley; Kiersten, Zackary, and Katelyn Haas; great-grandchildren, Colton and Aidan Layman; and a brother, Jack Spicer.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday March 3 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9:00 PM. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Immediately following the graveside services, all are welcome to join the family for a reception at Middletown Baptist Church, 419 Armstrong Corner Rd. Middletown, DE 19709.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Middletown Baptist Church at the address listed above.
