Virgie Taylor Elkins White, age 95, passed away peacefully April 26, 2022, in Ocala, Florida where she has made her home for 38 years. Her daughter Brenda was by her side.

She was born in Goodwill, West Virginia to Silas and Mary Bowman in 1927.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Ocala. Her hobbies included watching and feeding her yard birds, gardening, and growing flowers. She had a green thumb and could grow anything.

She moved to Delaware in 1955 and raised her family there. She worked for 30 years in the meat department at Acme Markets.

She is survived by her five children—Mary Martin (Bob), Henry Taylor, (Donna) Linda Short, Brenda French (Daryl), and Dotti Hess (Larry); 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great, great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Zenith and Irene, brothers, Lowell, Charles, Adran, and Hillary; daughter, CarolSue, son-in-law, Robert H. Short and great grandson, Ryan H. Short, and three spouses – James Taylor, Stanley Elkins and Joseph White.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday May 10 at Matthews Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna DE, with a viewing from 10-11 AM. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
