Vincent "Tinker"
M. Severson
March 15, 1950 – August 4, 2021
"Tinker" Vincent Michael Severson, 71, of Dover, DE passed peacefully at home on August 4, 2021.
He was born in Smyrna on March 15, 1950 to the late Lee D. Severson & Anna E. Bradley Severson.
He graduated from Dover High School class of 1970, where he won multiple awards for track and field.
He received numerous awards and recognition for his mechanical abilities as a diesel mechanic.
He was employed by Carey's Diesel, Del Dot, and was the owner of Tinker Service - the best Detroit diesel mechanic on the east coast.
In addition to mechanic work, he enjoyed cars, trucks, tractors, shooting sports, hunting, fishing and joking around.
He was a lifetime member of Leipsic Fire Company. Tinker always gave a helping hand, and was a mentor/father-figure to everyone and never turned anyone away. He loved to joke and scare people.
Tinker will be remembered by his many favorite sayings: "Been there done that", "Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you", "Over the lips over the gums look out bunhole here it comes", "Cast iron stomach and a rubber bunhole", "Duckers luck wet butt and a hungry gut".
He is survived by his wife, Diane E. Severson; children, Michael L. Severson and Lee D. Severson and his girlfriend Shannon Kerrigan; his dog Maxwell; brothers, Lee C. Severson, John Karl Severson, and Benjamin L. Severson; and his friends, John T. Moor Jr., and Richard Zimmerman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Laura Diane Severson.
Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday August 14, 2021 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
