Vanallen Hurd, 60, of Smyrna, passed away Monday April 19, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Newark DE.

He was born in Dover, DE on June 10, 1960, the son of the late Roland Edgar Hurd Sr. and Helen Marie Hurd (Lofland).

He was a graduate of Smyrna High School and worked for many years at Playtex Inc., Dover, as an inspector.

He loved classic TV shows, sipping coffee with Aunt Margaret, day trips to PA to see family, and eating out with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Hankins; Stepsons George Hankins (Tonia) and thier daughter Sinéad, and Isaac Hankins (Kristy); a brother, Edgar Hurd (Nancy) of Smyrna; and his step-sister Nellie Naylor of Smyrna; and his dear Aunt Margaret Hurd of Hartly.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Joanne.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday April 29 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at a later date. Please follow Covid-19 guidelines for masks and distancing.
