Thomas Burns, of Townsend, DE, passed away on Sunday October 22, 2017 at Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE after a battle with cancer that lasted several months. He was 65.

He was born January 6, 1952 in Wilmington, DE to the late William and Lucille Burns.

He retired in January 2014 from Lehigh Hanson Operating Engineers Stone Quarry after 40+ years of service.

He enjoyed deer hunting, being outside working around the farm, spending time with his many animals, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jan Burns; his Siblings Danny, Terry, Pat, Chris, & Roxanne; and several nieces & nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday October 27 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where a visitation will be held Thursday evening October 26 from 7-9:00 PM. Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Rt. 13, Odessa.

After the service, family and friends are invited to a reception at 12:00 PM at Cantwell's Tavern, 109 Main St., Odessa, DE.
