Thomas C. Voelker "Tom", of Smyrna, formerly of Baltimore, MD and Newark, DE, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday February 4, 2021. He was 90.
He was born in Baltimore, MD on November 18, 1930, the son of the late Charles and Virginia Voelker.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1949-1953, and was employed by DuPont in Glasgow, DE for many years.
He was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna, served as the treasurer of the group Methodist Men, and was a choir member for many years.
He was devoted to his wife and family, and his great-grandchildren offered him many hours of enjoyment. Tom also enjoyed camping, playing cards, and bingo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hazel Mae Voelker; a son, Thomas Mark Voelker; and a brother, Glenn G. Voelker.
He is survived by his children, Claire (Tom) Lilly, and Amy (Donald) Maloney; grandchildren, Donald T. (Alexa) Maloney, Kaitlyn E. Maloney, and David M. (Megan) Maloney and Samuel Lilly; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter, and Willow and Clay; a brother, William Voelker; and a sister, Virginia Young.
Memorial services will be held privately held. Interment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
