Thomas John Petro, of Smyrna, formerly of New Castle, DE, went to be with his forever family Sunday March 6, 2022. He was 51.

He was born in Wilmington, DE on June 7, 1970, the son of the late Leonard and Joan Petro. He graduated from Hodgson Vo-Tech in car mechanics.

Tom was a family caregiver for 9 years, and still continued to care for his brother, Lenny. He worked for Hercules, Hockessin, DE for 13 years and later was self-employed in computer work sales. He restored farm tractors and military trucks. Tom had the mechanical skills and knowledge to fix anything. He would help anyone before himself and had the best, caring, compassionate heart in the world.

Tom loved his family, farming, gardening, antiques, planting vegetables and flowers. He loved his three dogs, chickens, his pond of fish, animals, and driving golf carts on his farm. He was also a great artist and liked to draw farm scenes.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathleen Petro; a daughter, Stephanie (David) Stevens; grandchildren, Nicholas and Lindsey Stevens; a sister, Bonnie (Gene) DeGirolano; two brothers, Lenny Petro and Craig Ponte; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and nieces; his dogs Bob, Brian, Fred; his cats, Smokey and Yvonne Sunflower; and his dear friends Bernie Matyniak and Anderson Okeke.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dogs Buttercup and Duncan and Duke.

Services will be private.
