Obituary

Stella Elizabeth Grelock, of Dover, DE, passed away on Friday October 29, 2021 at Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover. She was 97.

She was born in Wilmington, DE on May 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Alexander Greloch and Marianna (Markowska). She was a graduate of St. Hedwig's Parochial School.

She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE where she married in 1944. The couple moved to Ithaca, NY in 1948. She returned to Delaware in 1967 and later retired in Dover, DE.

Her most enjoyable life experience was as a cook for the William A. Worth Estate in Greenville, Delaware where she spent nearly 20 years creating in their kitchen.

She enjoyed decorating her apartment, visiting her family, and just being able to go out whether it was for shopping, just for a ride or a visit. She loved to laugh and share stories about her life with her family. She was very artistic and would improve on any cards or letters she sent with hand drawn flowers to fill all open spaces. Everything had a place and she was very organized and happy when things were where she wanted them to be. She was always the life of the party and you knew if Stella were going to be there that everyone would have a good time.

She is survived by a nephew, Stanley Stepnowski Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Dover; a great-nephew, Stanley Stepnowski III, his wife Jennifer and their two sons John and Alexander of Minnesota; a great-niece, Shauna Sullivan, her husband Robert and their two sons, Henry and Noah of Middletown, DE; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her former husband, John Puit; brothers, Frank and Edward Greloch; sisters, Tessie Meyers and Hedwig Markow who passed away on October 19, 2021; and several other sisters and brothers who passed in their youth, Irene (1919), Cecilia (1921), Adam (1922), and Alexander (1923).

The family thanks the staff at Courtland Manor for the last several months of care and attention.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Friday November 5 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, 55 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
