Stanley Lawrence Bryk November 15, 1930-July 16, 2014 Stanley Lawrence Bryk, of Townsend, passed away peacefully at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, after a valiant year battling pancreatic cancer. He was 83. He was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. He served as an officer and pilot in the Air Force from 1954 to his retirement with the rank of major 1971. He was stationed in Delaware in 1963 where he retired and has lived in Dover, Smyrna, & Townsend. He also owned & operated Milex Auto Tune-Up center in New Castle, DE 1972 to 1998. He was married to Patricia Casey Bryk in 1954 until her death in Jan. 2001. He married Irene Willey- Bryk in December 2002. He was Father to five; Jeanne Tanner, Paul Bryk, Steven Bryk, Eric Bryk, & Rene' Bookoff; Stepfather to six of Irene's Children of the Willey family; Christopher Willey, David Willey, Gretchen Gill, Eileen Simmons, Alison Seewald, and Rachel du Bois; 34 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence Bryk. In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Bryk. Stan most recently lived winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and summers in Townsend, Delaware. He and Irene enjoyed their sunny retirement in Florida where they frequented the many festivals and car shows of the town, went surf fishing for pompano, rode bikes on the beach, and shared their comfy beach home with family and friends. He was a member of St. Polycarp's Catholic Church in Smyrna since 1974, and was a member of their Knights of Columbus, Brother Vincent Council: including having been the Grand Knight for many years. In addition, he also served on the Parish Council. He was also a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, FL where he volunteered to visit the sick of the parish. A viewing will be held 6-8:00 PM Thursday July 24 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 West Commerce St. Smyrna, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 AM Friday July 25, at St. Polycarp Catholic Church 135 Ransom Ln. Smyrna, DE 19977. A luncheon will follow at the church hall. Interment with military honors will take place 2:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd. Bear, DE 19701. Donations can be made in his honor to the youth spiritual development group at St. Polycarp's Catholic Church.
