Sheldon A. Smith, Jr., of Pike Creek, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 4, 2014. He was 54. Born July 26, 1960, he was a 1979 graduate of John Dickinson High School. He also attended Delaware Technical and Community College where he obtained his State of Delaware Machinist Degree. Sheldon took great pride in his work and was a dedicated employee at Standard Technologies in Marshallton, DE for over thirty years. He will be remembered for his handyman skills, and the friend and neighbor everyone turned to for help. Most of all, Sheldon enjoyed the simple things in life: rooting on the Phillies, watching Nascar, spending time with his family and especially fishing with his son, Justin. Sheldon is survived by and will be dearly missed by his Son, Justin Ryan Smith; Mother, Lena M. Smith; Sister, Teresa (Smith) Asman and husband, Tim; Sister, Pamela (Smith) Whitmer and husband Keith; Niece, Kaitlyn Whitmer and Nephew, Ryan Whitmer. He is also survived by his ex-wife of 23 years Donna Kipp-Smith. In addition, he will always remembered by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Sheldon A. Smith, Sr; and Sister, Connie Mae Smith. A celebration of Sheldon's life will take place on Saturday, November 1 with a visitation at 3:30 PM and a memorial service to follow at St. Paul's UMC, 406 Main St., Odessa, DE 19703.
