Obituary

Sharon Lee Gardner Doughty, 75, of Smyrna, passed away at 11:30 PM on January 29, 2025, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover, DE with her loved ones by her side.

She was born in Dover, DE on November 13, 1949, the daughter of the late Margaret Gardner Hardy and William Edward Gardner.

She was educated in the Smyrna School District and had been employed in home healthcare and numerous jobs.

Her greatest enjoyment was being around her family and meeting with her fellow neighbors at the gazebo. Being the best Grammy to her 5 great grandbabies was her greatest achievement.

Sheri had a great passion for seeing the wildlife at Assateague Island, taking the great grandkids for rides on her electric chair - never saying no to the great grandkids even when their moms said no! She enjoyed sharing her cooking recipes and cared for everybody that she met. She was someone who would do anything to make sure they were happy.

She is survived by her children Holly Davis and husband Robert Davis; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Johnson; grandchildren, Jake Daniels, Shelby Morgan, and Katelyn Morgan; great-grandchildren, Liam Daniels, Austin and Abigail Denton, Addison Fritz, River Daniels, and Jaxon Bomar; her siblings, David Gardner Sr and wife Louise Gardner; and Darlene Welzel and husband Paul Welzel; her friends, Debbie and Ronnie Morgan, Norma and Nicole Ryan, and her dearest friend, Candis Glass.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jake Daniels; brothers, Melvin Gardner and Wayne Gardner; a sister, Doris Jean Hindt, and her pet Bailey, the love of her life who passed away five years earlier on the same day.
