October 21, 1943 – January 5, 2026
Sharon Elaine Cook, of Dover, Delaware, passed away suddenly in Edison, NJ on January 5, 2026. She was 82.
She was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on October 21, 1943, the daughter of the late Dawson and Mopaul Staggs. Sharon grew up in Tipton, Oklahoma with many aunts, uncles and cousins and attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX where she received a Bachelor of Science in Teaching.
She was an elementary school teacher for 38 years, teaching 1st grade in Connetquot School District, Connetquot NY. She lived in Sayville, NY before moving to Dover, Delaware in July of 2014.

She was very active in the Commack Church of Christ in Commack, NY, for over 50 years. Her love of sweets, and the color purple, can only be eclipsed by her immense love for her two granddaughters.

Sofia, Matthew Sofia, and granddaughters Aurora Davison and Seraphina Davison.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Bennie Cook; and brothers, Dan Staggs and Brant Staggs.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE. Pastor Michael Hipes will officiate.
