Obituary

In Tribute to Samuel H. Riley We celebrate this day the simple happy life of a common man. Samuel H. Riley was born on July 27, 1943 to the late Josephine Riley and Samuel Henry Riley. He was a man of common means who always spent time trying to bring beauty and joy in the lives of those he touched. Samuel was born in Philadelphia. He lived in the city of brotherly love throughout his life, graduating from North East Catholic High School. He was a member of the Philadelphia Horticultural Society helping to beautify the city of brotherly love. Samuel had a strong love for his country and upon graduating from high school; he voluntarily joined the U.S. Army on January 17, 1962 and received an honorable discharge on January 16, 1968. Samuel was a great salesman and a man of many means. He sold many products going door-to-door and also working on the open markets setting up his own stands in the market place. He was a great entrepreneur. As he grew older, he decided to leave the market place and took a job with Konical Minolta as a sales representative. He was a model employee and always looked to help his fellow coworkers and friends. His family and friends always called his Sam, and his mother called him Sammy. He was also a great reader like his mother Josephine. He enjoyed the art of language and spoke six different languages. He was a good son and brother. We believe Samuel's life was a testimony of the struggles, and sacrifices that a few good men have to make in order to make a difference in the lives of those who surrounded him. Samuel leaves to mourn a host of family members and friends. Prayerfully submitted - The Family Services will be held 9:30 AM Friday September 7 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W.
