Ruth Evelyn
Golt
September 3, 1924 – July 3, 2017
Ruth Evelyn Golt, 92, late of Mt. Friendship Rd., Dover, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, July 3rd, in the home of her nephew, Dave Graham, on Massey's Millpond near Kenton.
Born in Frenchtown, NJ, she moved to Delaware in 1939 with her family when they relocated to a farm near Kenton. Married at the age of 16, she lived the life of a traditional housewife. After the death of her husband of 47 years in 1987, Ruth served as a Delaware Hospice volunteer bereavement counselor for more than 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, collecting postcards, and spending time with friends and family.
Mrs. Golt was the daughter of the late Clarence and Charlotte (Wampfler) Cadmus and was predeceased by her husband, Louis Golt, sister, Judy Graham, and brother, Paul Cadmus, Sr. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was grateful for the care and consideration given to her over the years by niece and nephew, Judy and Eddie Spencer.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 15th, at the Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home at 123 Commerce St. in Smyrna, DE. The viewing will begin at 10 am with the service at 11 am, followed by burial in the Bryn Zion Baptist cemetery near Kenton. A luncheon reception will be held afterward for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901.
One of Mrs. Golt's favorite quotes, attributed to her late husband … "You're a short time here and a long time gone."
