Russell (Rusty) Greene left us unexpectedly on Wednesday March 8, 2023. He was born May 25, 1959 in Dover, Delaware. He was a life-long resident of Smyrna, Delaware. Rusty was married to the love of his life, Barbara, for 40 years, and they had one son, Adam.

Russell was a 1977 graduate of Smyrna High School and a 1979 graduate of the University of Delaware. Russell owned and operated his family farm, Greenhill Farms, until 1992. He also worked several years for the Delaware Lottery and Dover Downs.

Russell was preceded in death by his father, Seldon Greene, and his mother, Gladys (Cornell) Greene.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Collins) Greene; his son, Adam Greene; his sister, Stephanie (Harvey) Reed; his cousins Joyce (Green) McGee and son Tyler McGee. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Rusty loved his homes on St. John, deep sea fishing, and always enjoyed spending time with all his life-long friends. Rusty would go out of his way to help someone in need. He will be missed by so many people, but also by his many four-legged family members.

Funeral Services will be held 12 PM Saturday March 18 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, with a visitation from 10 AM to 12 PM. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
