Ronald J.
Smith
1943 — 2026
Smyrna, DE
Ronald J. Smith, born in 1943 in Hanover, PA, passed away Thursday August 27, 2026.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, Carroll and Anna Smith, and a brother, Laverne.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Annie; step-son Michael and step-daughter Jennifer. He is also survived by his four grandsons, Tyler, Jacob, and Bradley and Tyler Smith as well as his four siblings, Lillian, Karen, CarolAnn, and Brian; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Ron was a 3 Palm Eagle Scout of which he was very proud. He served four years in the navy serving on the destroyer USS Massey during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his military service, he obtained a degree in electrical engineering at Penn State University. Ron retired after 40 years as an electrical engineer.
He loved hunting, fishing, and everything outdoors. He was a Ron-of-all-trades who could build and fix anything. And it you didn’t know something, you went to Ron – not Google!
He will be deeply missed every minute of every day. Until we meet again Ron, rest in peace.
