Obituary

Richard J. Horvath, 73, of Smyrna, DE and formerly of Edison, NJ, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in Edison most of his life, before moving to Smyrna 10 years ago.

Mr. Horvath served in the United States Army before being Honorably Discharged. In 1992, he retired as a Sergeant with the Edison Police Department after 25 years of dedicated service. He was a well-respected man and was dedicated to his family and service and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents John G. and Doris L. Horvath. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Deborah A. Horvath (née Collins) of Smyrna, DE; his children Michelle Horvath and Kevin Burke, Detective Michael Horvath and wife Casina, Alison Wirth and Rich Davila, and Michael Wirth and wife Lauren; his five grandchildren: Timothy Berry, Rhiannon Smith, Gage Zuber, and Ava and Kara Horvath; his sister Barbara Horvath, and adopted brother Roger West, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 4-8 pm at Boylan Funeral Home 10 Wooding Ave., Edison, NJ. Interment will be on Friday, November 4 at 11 am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Rd. Bear, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or www.delawarehospice.org .
