Nelson Mesick, 90, went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 16, 2023, with his family at his side still enjoying his quick wit and his sharp eye.

He joined the Army in 1951 and received the Good Conduct Medal, Occupation of Germany Commendation Medal, and Certificate of Achievement for outstanding service. He married Gerda in 1954. The Army dropped the 's' out of his name. While serving at many different bases, three of their four children were born. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and moved back to DE.

He also volunteered in many community organizations: Meals-On-Wheels, Central DE Economic Development Council, Central DE Chamber of Commerce, and the Aquatic Resources Education Center, among many others.
He also faithfully served for many years in the BSA Two Bays District and was most proud of receiving the district's highest honor, The Award of Merit; and the council's highest award, The Silver Beaver. He also received many other awards too numerous to list. He resigned from Boy Scouts in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Annabella and Gloria, and his brother Carles Jr.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellen Sue; children, Monica St. John, Joe Mesick (Sheri), Nelson Mesick II (Chris), April Wickham (Rich), and Ward Mesick (Metty); sisters, Betty Haley and Barbara Graham; his grandchildren, Marc St. John, Angelina St. John, Shawna Kirlin, Andrea' Hughes, Victoria Mesick, Ashton Mesick, Erica Alexander, Jennifer Thomas, Joey Simmons, Elyse Mesick, and Adalia Mesick; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Gilbert B.
