She was born on November 5, 1947, to Victor D. Ennis and Emily (Arthurs) Deakyne. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William H. Zelenka, her daughter Emmie Anne (Zelenka) Thompson and her husband Larry Thompson Jr, 4 wonderful, amazing, grandchildren Trey, Avery, Rayne and Jaxon, her brother Lee H. Deakyne and his wife Julia (Wisler) Deakyne and their son Cole Deakyne.

Nancy graduated from Smyrna High School in 1965 and then from Marjorie Webster Jr College 2 years later with an associate degree in Secretarial Studies. She worked for many places, but her favorite was McCormick & Company, the spice company out of Hunt Valley, MD. She had a strong love for plants, animals, and outdoors activities. She spent summers at the beach and in the ocean swimming as a child and well into her adult years. She loved gardening and took great care of the flowers in her yard everywhere she lived.  When the flowers would bloom in the spring, they would make her heart sing. She had many cats and dogs and even a horse that she cared for as well.  Her other love was for her family and friends. She loved them dearly with all her heart and would move mountains for any one of them. Nancy loved talking about all her friends and family to anybody would listen. If you let her, she would talk for hours about all the wonderful experience she had with grandchildren and how proud she was of each of them.
