Nancy Elaine Hurd, 71, of Smyrna, DE, passed away at home on Tuesday March 28, 2023.

She lived at the home she and husband had built since 1977.

Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed preparing large family meals, yard sales, beautifully decorating her home for all the holidays and gardening.  Nancy was also highly talented in the craft of floral arranging and liked making arrangements for friends and family.

She worked at Robbins Hair Fashion in Clayton DE for 28 years and then worked part time at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, DE as a hairdresser for 15 years, before officially retiring in March 2020.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Majorie; brothers, Harry Wiest, Richard Wiest; sisters, Constance (Connie) Grace, Doris Ferrandino and Barbara Harrison.

She is survived by her husband, Roland E. Hurd, Jr. of Smyrna; son, Ryan and Samantha Hurd of Elizabeth City, NC, granddaughter Andrea Hurd; and sisters Sandra Skillman of Virginia, Shirley Stella of Dover and brother James Wiest of New Jersey.

A visitation will be held from 7-8:30 PM on Tuesday April 4 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Wednesday April 5 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE.
