Nancy W. Faries, passed away at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover, on Wednesday January 11, 2012. She was 82. She was born in Cape Charles, VA, the daughter of the late Harvey and Bertie Wise. Mrs. Faries was a homemaker and a longtime active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Smyrna. In her younger years, she was an avid tennis and golf player. She had been a member of the Community Singers, and had served as a volunteer in the gift shop at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. She also enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph G. "Guy" Faries Jr. She is survived by her sons, Gihon G. Faries III, and Mark D. Faries, both of Smyrna; and five grandchildren, Megan Slaughter, Ashley White, Nick Faries, Logan Faries, and Genevieve Nancy Faries. Services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday January 18 at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
