Myrtle Marie Blendt Piser, of Newark, and formerly of Smyrna, passed away on February 3, 2018 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 93.

She was born in Smyrna on August 9, 1924, the daughter of the late George M. Blendt and Hazel F. Blendt.

She was a graduate of Smyrna High School and the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Piser was employed as a Registered Nurse in the practice of John Lazzeri, MD in Smyrna. She enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, and volunteering at the Smyrna Public Library. She was also a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Smyrna, where she served in the choir for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Piser; a brother, Clarence G. Blendt, and a sister, Evelyn Blendt.

She is survived by a son, George Kern Piser (Marianne); grandchildren, Matthew D., William M. II (Katie); and Robin C. Piser; great-grandchildren, William M. III, and Emma Piser; and a nephew, Bradford L. Blendt (Judy).

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Newark Manor and at Christiana Care.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday February 9 at First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Burial will be in Old St. Anne's Cemetery, Middletown, DE.
