Matthew Karl Orlando "Matty", 24, of Dover, passed away January 15, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Dover on September 24, 1992, the son of Michelle Santee (Matt) and J. Martin Orlando.
He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2010 and had attended Wilmington University.
He loved traveling with family, watching football, and playing baseball. He had a passion for cars, the San Francisco 49ers, and spending time with family. Matthew enjoyed playing video games and listening to music.
Matthew was very compassionate & caring to all who were fortunate enough to meet him. He took great care of his grandfather when he was in the late stages of Alzheimer's. Matthew was rarely seen without his beautiful smile. His wonderful sense of humor was enjoyed by many. All who knew him witnessed first hand his gentle soul and kind heart. He enjoyed constantly learning about history. Matthew was very proud of his German & Italian Heritage. He loved his trip to Germany, Italy, and Austria with family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Mario Orlando; his paternal grandmother, Susan Orlando; his aunts, Diana Chupp, Mary Grace Hutchinson (George), Margo Orlando, Susan Taylor (Keith); uncles: Joseph Byrne, and Vincent M. Orlando; cousins: Daniel, Nicole, and Gina Taylor; Andrew Hutchinson; Chuckie, Christian, Codey, and Caliegh Chupp; and his second cousin Baby Alex; and his dogs, Tiny and Abby. In addition, many friends referred to him as their younger brother.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Joseph M. Orlando; maternal grandparents Ray & Iris Spicer; and his dog Prince.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12:00 PM Friday January 20, at St. Polycarp Roman Catholic Church, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, where a visitation will be held in the parish hall from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After the funeral, friends are invited to join the family at a reception at the Clayton Fire Hall, 212 Railroad Ave., Clayton, DE.
Interment will be private.
