Mary Jane Starkey, "Grans", of Dover, DE, passed away on Sunday November 23, 2025 at her daughter's home in Magnolia, DE. She was 82.
She was a Christmas Eve baby, born December 24, 1942 in Dover, Delaware, the daughter of the late Ralph and Rachel Starkey. She was a graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna, and had been employed as a Secretary at Legislative Hall in Dover for many years.
Mary Jane resided in Clayton, Delaware and then moved to Dover. She was an avid reader, a dog lover, enjoyed cross-stitching and crafts, spending time with family, was a proud grandmother and mom, and a proud ballet mom. She also loved dancing, fashion, shopping on QVC, and loved to watch Kim Gravel on QVC.
Mary Jane was a giver to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, and a former member of Ewells St.-Paul United Methodist Church, Clayton, and Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover.
She is survived by her children, Rochelle Finfinger (Dave), and Mary Jarrell Little (Matt); and three grandchildren, Caitlyn Finfinger, Jackson Kelly, and Teddy Kelly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved dogs, Beau, Molly, Katia, and Charlize (Beloved dogs).
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Delaware Hospice, Bayhealth Oncology, and Bayhealth Radiation (Kent Campus).
A visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday December 3rd at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Thursday December 4th at the funeral home with burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
The family suggests that memorial donations be sent to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
