Obituary

Mary E. Hutchinson, of Smyrna, passed away on Friday November 11, 2011. She was 83. She was born May 5, 1928 in her family home in Smyrna, the daughter of the late William H. Minner Sr. and the late Mary Wilhelmina King Minner. She was a 1946 graduate of John Bassett Moore School. She was employed for 47 years as a parts and service representative with State Highway, which then became Warner Fruehauf Trailer Co., and later, Clifton Trailer Co. until she retired in 1993. She also worked for the Treasure Box in Smyrna. Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna, and assisted in the kitchen for various church functions for many years. In addition, she had been a Girl Scout Leader, a Smyrna High School Band Booster and Smyrna Alumni member. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, talking, and watching the Phillies, and most of all, spending time with friends and family. Mom will be sadly missed by everyone whose life she has touched; but in her passing, we all celebrate her reunion with her husband, family, and friends who have preceded her. Those of us who remain here today will not mourn her passing; instead, we shall cherish the many fond memories of her compassion for others and her joy of life. While she moves onto the next stage of her existence, her spirit will continue for all those who will remember her. She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Buddy" Hutchinson Sr., in 1979, and her brother, William H. Minner Jr. in 1995. She is survived by her children, Mary "Beth" Lightcap and her husband John W. Lightcap, of Smyrna; and George F. Hutchinson Jr. and his wife Mary Grace Orlando-Hutchinson, of Clayton; grandchildren, Angie M. Lightcap-Hewes and her husband James D. Hewes, of Clayton; Stacey H. Lightcap-Hutson and her husband Ronald W. Hutson Jr., of Smyrna; and Andrew George Hutchinson, of Clayton; and great-grandchildren, Taylor M. Hutson, of Smyrna; Faith E. Hewes, of Clayton; and unborn Baby Hutson. Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday November 17 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W.
