Obituary

Martin LeRoy Foster started his epic journey through life on April 10, 1945. He grew up in Marlton, New Jersey where his early years consisted of transforming a South Jersey swamp into Creek Run Recreational Lake and Swim Club. With the help from his parents LeRoy and Martha Foster, Martin spent countless hours helping them transform this little patch of New Jersey into the historic lake it is known for today.

As Martin grew into a teenager, he enjoyed playing football for the Lenape High School Indians.  He was also a member of the Garrison Foster Hunting Club where he spent many years sitting in trees waiting for deer to cross his path.  Sometimes he was lucky and sometimes not so much.  Martin also spent a bit of time in Florida where you'd find him hunting in the dead of night. Apparently, water moccasins were attracted to his flashlight and would bump into his waders.

Martin retuned back to Marlton and became a volunteer fire fighter for the community. He married Gail Joyce Levy and they had a daughter named Tara. Martin became an active member of Local 172 where he worked on improving the very roads you use every day.  He also spent years optimizing New Jersey's train system by keeping a keen eye out for the safety of his workers.

In the mid-1990's the swim club was turned into Camp Creek Run, a day camp for children ages 4-12.  Then in the early 2000's Martin and Gail retired. They were excited to enjoy their retirement on a horse farm.  Martin was excited to swap his years of hard work for greener pastures - literally. You could find Martin sitting on his favorite tractor for hours listening to his favorite country western radio station and, Martin would always decide to mow the lawn just before dinner which made Gail a bit frantic.  Regardless, their lawn always looked good!

After the loss of his wife, Gail, Martin moved to Felton, Delaware to live out the final years of his life. He enjoyed over-feeding the native bird population, floating down the Delaware river in his boat with fishing rod in hand and surf fishing on the white sandy beaches with his pride and joy, a fluffy little white dog named Mikey.

Martin was loved by his community. He was an avid fisherman, keen outdoorsmen, animal whisperer and a better cook than Gail. He was also liked by everyone who ever met him. Martin is survived by his only daughter, Tara.
