Martin Kenneth "Kenny" Bessinger Jr., passed away at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford on Tuesday April 7, 2015 with his daughter and special family friend by his side. He was 80. He was born in Dover on May 7, 1934. Ken was a graduate of Smyrna High School, and graduated with high honors from Delaware State College. He also had served in the Army National Guard where he received honors with a perfect score at the shooting range. He retired from the State of Delaware after many years as a planning and budget analyst. He enjoyed spending time in the woods, watching it snow, and feeding birds, squirrels, rabbits, and deer. In addition, he greatly enjoyed watching his great-grandson play baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Delsie Bessinger; and a son-in-law, John Thomas Isdell. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret; a sister Virginia (George) Brown, of Kenton; two daughters, Francine (Marvin) Dunning of Hartly, Karen R. Isdell, of Milford; and a son, Kenneth M. Bessinger, of Milford; five grandchildren including Johni Lisa (Danny) Lewis, of Lincoln who was like a daughter to him; nine great-grandchildren, including his special great-grandchildren, Jason B. Kemp Jr., Aaron Thomas Lewis, Destiny Lewis, and Madison Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held 7-9:00 PM Sunday April 12 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday April 13 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
