Margaret J. Harkins, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on October 21, 2026 at Silver Lake Center, Dover, DE. She was 87.

She was born in Philadelphia PA, on January 19, 1939 to the late George Wickersham and Margaret Boyer.

Margaret spent many years waitressing at finer restaurants in Southern NJ. She and husband purchased their first home in Pine Hill NJ and then retired to Smyrna Delaware. She enjoyed cooking, vacations at the NJ Shore, and driving the lawn tractor to cut the lawn of the home in Smyrna. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, a daughter Margaret Simone, and son Patrick Harkins; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gennie Weilgoz.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Harkins, a daughter, Deborah Harkins Darcy, and siblings, George Wickersham, Joe Wickersham, and Bernie Wickersham.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tue. November 3 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, 226 French St, Hammonton, NJ, with a visitation at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 248 S 1st Rd, Hammonton, NJ.
