Bartholomew, Lue Vernon, "Grandma Lue"

Lue V. Bartholomew "Grandma Lue", formerly Lue (Smith) Ruby, of Smyrna, Delaware, previously from Saint Leonard, Maryland and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 84.

Lue was always kind and welcoming with a perpetual smile and gentle spirit. She was well-loved and adored by her family. Lue enjoyed telling stories and listening to others share their stories with her. She cherished her sons and grandchildren and enjoyed many family reunions with them and her extended family. Lue loved to garden, to care for her plants and flowers, and spent a lot of time in her yard overlooking the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay. Lue was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and watched each game with enthusiasm and optimism. She cherished the time spent with her dearest and beloved sister Kay. Her kindheartedness and love will always be remembered and deeply missed. May she rest in peace.

Lue is survived by her loving children, Joseph, Mark (Colleen) and Wayne (Patty) Ruby. Grandchildren, Richard, Jacob (Bunnie), Rebecca, Camryn, Seth, and Maiah Ruby, and great granddaughter Vivian Ruby. She is also survived by her sister Kay LaFace, brothers David Smith and Patrick (Pat) Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

Lue was preceded in death by her husband Ralph "Bart" Bartholomew, former husband Joseph Ruby, parents Vernon Smith and Moltie (Smith) Reichel, brother, Roland Smith, sisters Jo Ann (Davern) Brooks and Judy (Rice) Harrison.
