Lucille N. Burris, of Downs Chapel, passed away at her home on Sunday May 5, 2013. She was 87. She was born in Bryson City, NC, the daughter of the late Lamar and Mary Thomas. She worked for many years as a nursing aide at the Delaware Home and Hospital (DHCI), Smyrna, and also cared for many geriatric patients in the area for many years. Lucille enjoyed working with flowers and decorating for Christmas each year. She also enjoyed travelling and camping. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jack Burris; two step-sons, John Burris Jr. and Bobby Burris; a step-daughter, Catherine Ann "Jackie" Hartman; step-daughter and caregiver, Deborah Walker; four brothers, Vincent (Peggy) Thomas, Gordon (Mildred) Thomas, Edward (Nell) Thomas, and Freddy Thomas; a sister, Helen (Jerry) Harris; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer thanks to Dr. Milan, Dr. Donlick, and the other physicians for the excellent care they provided to Lucille. Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday May 10 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM. Burial will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S.
