Obituary

LeRoy Carney Jr., of Smyrna, passed away on Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 69.

He was born in Dover and graduated from Dover High School. He proudly served in the National Guard for four years. He began working at Fleischer's Bakery and later at Reichold Chemical Co. in Dover. He also owned and operated TESA Construction for many years. He was a skilled carpenter and jack-of-all-trades.

"Jr.", as he was affectionately known, had many hobbies and interests which included: photography, fishing, hunting, his bow and arrow, travelling, dancing, and collecting things with eagles. He also loved watching science fiction and old westerns (his idol was John Wayne). His favorite place to eat was Red Lobster.

Jr. will be remembered as a devoted father, brother, and son who loved being with his family. He was kind-hearted and was always willing to help those around him. He especially enjoyed walking his dogs Stretch and Chelsea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late LeRoy and Annabelle Carney.

He is survived by a son, LeRoy Carney III; two sisters, Victoria and Angela Carney; his step-children, Michael A. Brown, George Brown, and Kimberly Lattomus; his fiancée, Sue Ksenich, and her family, Cathy and Greg Diven, and daughters Emily, Haley, and Megan; aunts, Anne Seeney, Gloria Attix, and Betty Seeney; and various cousins.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday February 2 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at Noon. Burial will be in Immanuel Union Cemetery, Cheswold.
