Obituary

Lenni Anne Russell, 75, of Dover, DE received her wings and went to walk with the angels on Thursday, August 22, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Lenni was born in Great Falls, Montana on September 7, 1948, to the late Evelyn Joyce Gurnick & late Leo Harlan Gurnick.  She was the oldest of 7 children, they grew up in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Lenni attended Midpark High School.

She lived in Ohio, Michigan, and finally settled down in Delaware, originally in Middletown and later moved to Dover De. Lenni graduated from Schelling and Douglas Cosmetology School, becoming a Magician/Beautician. She devoted her life to her 4 daughters Kandy, Evelyn, Marsy, and Emily and her many grandchildren.

Mom loved playing in her flower gardens, listening to her country music, talking to her friends and family.  Her biggest accomplishments included being a mom, grama, nana, and meme, her green thumb, and her ability to make someone feel special and appreciated.  Her home always had the front door unlocked for all who needed to seek shelter, eat a warm meal, or just needed an ear to listen or a hand to hold.  Her home was a comfortable place for anyone. Mom enjoyed crocheting blankets, playing uno and sequence with her family, and telling us stories of when she was young. She always loved finding bargains at a yard sale, Goodwill, or a clearance sale. Enjoyed watching the Eagles and Gibbs on NCIS.

Lenni will be remembered and missed by many. She is survived by children, Kandy Vickers (Seaborn), the late Evelyn Whitley (Michael), Marsy & Ian Richardson, and Emily Edwards (the late Duane); grandchildren, Korey, Jessica, Kody, Whisper, Mikey, Heaven, Zachary, Desiree, Duane (DJ), MarSadie, Autumn, & Levi; great grandchildren, 12 and 1 on the way; siblings, Fred & Candy, Ted, Bette & Jerry, Dawne, Arthur, Peggi & Ken; her Aunt Anne; her pets, Bruno, Luna, and Axel; and her special friends, Lucy, Debbie D, Linda D, & Shelly R.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Evelyn, and her pets, Escher, Jenny, & Serenity.

She will be fondly remembered as saying ""Toodaloo, love you!"

A visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Friday August 30 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, with funeral services at the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday August 31. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
