Kay Francis Laface

Kay Francis LaFace, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on February 5, 2026, at Christiana Hospital Accent Hospice Care in Newark, Delaware.

She was born on May 12, 1944, the daughter of the late Vernon and Moltie Smith. She managed a professional cleaning business for years and would go the extra mile to make her clients happy.

Kay was a strong, loving, and independent woman who devoted her life to her family, friends, and cats. She was known for her stubborn spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength. Kay touched the lives of many.

Kay found joy in the simple things. She loved being around her grandkids, playing games and having fun. She loved her Dr. Pepper and sweets and always made sure to have chocolates for guests. She used to try to guess her Christmas gifts before she would open them because she was magic. She was the fortune teller at gatherings and the life of the party. She made the best peanut chocolate balls every Christmas from scratch.

In a final act of generosity and selflessness, Kay made the decision years ago to donate her body to science, ensuring she could keep helping others even after her passing.

She is survived by her children, Kenny, Kimberly, and Tina; her brothers David and Pat; sister-in-law, Patricia; grandchildren, Ranee, Jacqueline, and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Austin, Caleb, Jax, Giovonni, and Maverick; and great-great-grandchildren, Grayson, and Levi.

She was deeply loved by her family and friends, holding many treasured magical memories.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Joanne, Judy, and Lue.
