On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Karen A. Barrie unexpectedly passed away surrounded by loved ones at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. She was 62 years old.

Karen is survived by her mother, Catherine Albanese; her son, Brad Barrie Jr. [Christina], her daughter Krystal Lamiroult [Danika], siblings Janie Ferrari-Helker [Ed], Susan Ferrell [John], Thomas Albanese [Jennifer], & Christopher Albanese [Carmen] as well as her 2 nephews [Matthew & Andrew] and 5 nieces [Lauren, Nicole, Michelle, Madeline & Katie] and her beloved cat Chloë.

She is preceded in death by her father Savino "Sam" Carl Albanese and her longtime companion and "goodest boy" Riggs.

Karen was born on November 10, 1959, in Flushing, New York. She graduated from Shahin Shahr High School while living abroad in Iran in 1977. She had been employed as a phlebotomist for many years.

She loved animals, reading, and watching Hallmark movies any chance she could. She had a wonderful sense of humor coupled with an infectious laugh that will always be remembered.

Services will be private, and a celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date to be announced, as it was her wishes not to have a formal service.
