John Francis Aloysius Monroe, 63, of Clayton, DE, formerly of Middletown, DE, passed away at his home on Sunday October 25, 2020.
He was born January 17, 1957 in Tinicum Township, PA. John was a 1975 graduate of Downingtown High School. He was employed as a chef for many years, but never cooked for his wife.
He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan as well as NASCAR, especially Bill Elliott & Kasey Kahne.
He was a Lewes Polar Bear Plunger since 2001, and would have celebrated 20 years in February 2021. John loved motorcycles and enjoyed dressing up for Santa during the holidays for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Courtney Monroe; three children, John A. Monroe, Heather Crowder, and Tiffany Crowder; five grandchildren; his father, William Monroe; and siblings, Lisa Weaver and Jeff "Woody" Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Monroe; a brother, Jimmy Monroe; his cat, Babies; and his dog, Rascle "Bubba".
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday November 7, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. A mask or face-covering are required to comply with Covid-19 guidelines.
