Janet E. Girello, age 86, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Born in Staten Island, NY on February 18, 1938 to the late Walter and Elsie Skoman, Janet was a graduate of Port Richmond High School, worked as a head typist at AT&T in NYC, and was a retired homemaker.

A New York Yankees fan, Janet enjoyed reading, solving word search puzzles, watching television, especially old westerns, Law & Order SVU, and various cooking and game shows, as well as spending time with family (including her various "granddogs" over the years).

Janet is survived by her children, Janice Girello, Debra Yannette, and Michael Girello, Jr.; her brother, Lennard Skoman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Girello, Sr.; her brother, Arthur Skoman; and her son-in-law, Michael Yannette.

A visitation will be held 5-6:30 PM Tuesday August 27 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM.

A funeral service will be held 9:30 AM Wed. Sept. 4th at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY with graveside services at 11 AM Wednesday at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
