Obituary

Jane Peck Sullivan
September 20, 1944 – August 13, 2025

Jane Peck Sullivan, 80, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away peacefully at her home on August 13, 2025, where she had lived for nearly three decades.

Born in Claremont, New Hampshire, on September 20, 1944, Jane was the daughter of Eleanor and Clyde Peck of Bennington, Vermont. She enjoyed an active and adventurous childhood, filled with horseback riding, skiing, and music—playing both the piano and violin. Jane attended Johnson State University in northern Vermont, where she continued to embrace her love for the outdoors, particularly skiing at Stowe.

Jane dedicated her professional life to caring for others, serving as an Activities Director in long-term care facilities, including Corsica Hills in Centreville, Maryland, and The Pines in Easton, Maryland. Her kind spirit and joyful energy brought light to many in her care.

Throughout her adult life, Jane lived in Smyrna, Delaware, Easton, Maryland, and Newtown, Connecticut. She was a talented seamstress and quilter who loved crafts and brought creativity into everything she touched. With a sharp wit and infectious laugh, she found deep joy in time spent with her grandchildren.

In her prime, Jane was a passionate traveler, making cherished trips across Europe and Israel. She maintained a lifelong commitment to physical activity, enjoying tennis, golf, and running well into her later years. Her life was enriched by many dogs, including Fannie, Sheba, Lucy, and Ernie, and she was very caring of them and all animals.

A devoted Episcopalian, Jane was a longtime member of Saint Peter's Church in Smyrna, where her husband served as minister, and later of Christ Church in Smyrna and Dover.

Jane is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Mark Sullivan of Smyrna, Delaware; her sons: Peter Kopsco and his wife Dawn Matthews of East Montpelier, Vermont, and their children, Noah and Bram; and David Kopsco and his wife Michele Bakacs of Pennington, New Jersey, and their children, Benjamin and Harrison. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Peck of Bennington, Vermont.

A memorial service will be held on September 5th at 10:30 at Saint Peter's Church in Smyrna, Delaware, followed by interment at Christ Church in Dover, Delaware. A reception will follow at Christ Church.
