Jan Carson
Miller
October 24, 1946 – March 29, 2024
It is with great regret that the family of Jan Carson Miller must announce her having passed from this earthly life on Friday, March 29th. She now joins her heavenly father Jesus, in love and peace.
Jan was born October 24, 1946 in Baltimore, MD to parents Thomas Edward Carson III and Elizabeth Carson (Ewry). Both parents are deceased.
Jan is survived by her brother, Thomas Edward Carson IV; a son, William David Gray, his wife Sandra (Bird), and two sons, Carson and Dylan. She is also survived by a daughter, Laura Schoening and her husband, Bryan, her loving husband, Douglass E. Miller and his daughter, Allison Gallo (Tom).
Jan spent years working for ILC as a drafter, and for Unitrac as a computer-aided drafter, but her real love in life was her art. She specialized in oil paintings, but was just as gifted in acrylics and ink drawings. She won several awards in local art shows associated with the Dover Public Library. Most of all she thoroughly enjoyed teaching art techniques to adults through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Dover campus. She had an uncanny ability to interpret great works of art by other artists.
Jan made many friends in this endeavor, but she also loved travel and camping, and watching British mysteries such as Father Brown and Murdock Mysteries, but nothing could top her enjoyment of time spent with her two grandsons, Dylan and Carson Gray, whom she adored.
Pets were a big part of Jan's life as she loved all animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. She leaves behind her beloved Queenie and Mr. Mittens. She will always remember her recent ride on a horse named Sparkles.
Recently the family enlisted the aid of Delaware Hospice, who have been invaluable in the promptness availability, and dedication to medicine while treating patient and family with extreme kindness. They give their thanks especially to nurses Pam, Sarah, Michelle, Lisa, Desiree, Regina, and to Dale the technician. The family is appreciative for Delaware Homecare and nurse Donna whose care and efficiency could not have been more outstanding.
Final arrangements have been made with Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, April 5th at 1pm at St. Peters Church in Smyrna, DE.
