James Edward

February 11, 1934 – March 10, 2023
James Edward Stone, veteran, and retired Colonel, US Air Force, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. He is predeceased by his sister Carol (Nick), his second wife Patsy, his first wife Hannah, and his daughter Mary. He is survived by his sister Betty (Fred), daughters Cynthia, Carol (Jay), and Melanie, son-in-law Mark, his grandchildren: Lynsey, Michael, Michelle, Melissa, Jay Wesley, Jonathan, Jared, Samantha, and Katlyn, and 17 great-grandchildren.
From an early age James had a passion to fly and to see the world so joined the air force to pursue those dreams. He became one of the first pilots to train, test, and fly the C-5 aircraft, the largest aircraft flown by the US Air Force. His other passions were his family, boating, and the beach. Many family weekends were spent skiing on various lakes and rivers or lounging at the beach. James was an excellent role model for his children, his grandchildren, his colleagues, and his friends. An honorable man with a wonderful sense of humor. A real gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all.
