James J. Harkins' Obituary
James J. Harkins, 85, of Smyrna, DE, formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Pine Hill, NJ, passed away October 24, 2018 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 22, 1933 to the late Patrick John Harkins and Mary McMenamin.
He served in US Army in the Korean War. He had been employed as a Teamsters Trucker, USPS Truck Driver and Driving Instructor.
His daughter, Debra Ann Darcy, passed away in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J Harkins (Wickersham); a daughter, Margaret Ann Simone (Anthony); a son, Patrick James Harkins (Brenda Olesiewicz); 10 grandchildren, Sean, Krista, Erin, Kelsey, Shannon, Elliott, Jenna, Dana, Nick and Maura; 2 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Kevin Darcy.
A viewing will be held Friday November 2 from 9:30 AM – 11 AM at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, 55 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM.
Burial will be 11 AM Saturday November 3 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hammonton, NJ.
