James H. Faulkner Jr., 76, of Townsend, formerly of Wilmington, went home to be with the LORD on Monday March 12, 2012, ending his long courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was the husband of Barbara A. Faulkner, whom he shared 28 years of marriage. Born in Newport, DE on January 16, 1936, he was the son of the late James H. and Lillian (Sammons) Faulkner. He was also preceded in death by his step-son, Mark A. Weir and his brother Gene A. Faulkner. After attending school in Wilmington, Jim worked at Ben Shaw's as a welder. He went on to work at Chrysler Assembly Plant, Newark, in the late 50's, retiring after 30 years in 1989. Jim was a great fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Phillies. In his younger years, Jim managed an amateur ball team named the Royals, and enjoyed boating and water skiing. Jim loved his family and they were very important to him. Jim also enjoyed working with wood, hand crafting furniture pieces for family and friends. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals and always had several pets, leaving behind his dogs, cats, and Arabian horses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debra Biddle and her husband Francis, of Hockessin; Sandra DiBiase and her husband Augustine, of FL; Lynda Springer and her husband Ken, of Wilmington; Doris Farnhill and her husband Phil, of FL; Brenda Faulkner and Mike Lux, of Newark; and step-daughter Kimberly Bright and husband Ron, of Hockessin. Jim is also survived by grandchildren, Krista DeMaio; Carlene Lloyd; Joseph DeMaio; Augustine DiBiase; Christina Vassallo; Gary Klaft; Amye Klaft; Jennifer Springer; Kenny Springer; Samantha Springer; Felicia Crabtree; Jodi Crabtree; step-grandchildren Ron Bright III; Andrew Bright; Matthew Bright; Zachary Bright; and he was blessed with 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 17, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
