James Austin Daniels Sr., of Smyrna, went to be with his LORD on Thursday November 2, 2017 at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 70.

James was born in Townsend, DE on April 8, 1947, the son of the late Austin and Myrtle Daniels of Middletown.

He enjoyed watching old western shows, NASCAR, and car shows. His greatest love was spending time with his dog Charlie.

Jim worked as a mechanic for many years at Sheats Ford in Middletown, Ennis & Deakyne Ford in Smyrna, and Schaffer Ford in Dover.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Austin (Jake) Daniels Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Holly Jo Davis and her husband Robert, of Monroe, VA; six sisters, Margaret McFadden, Ethel Morris, Anna Hoebee, Mary Say, Barbara McLamb, and Jenny Daniels; three brothers, Lee Biddle, Robert Daniels, and Richard Daniels; three grandchildren, James Austin Daniels III, Shelby Lynn Morgan, and Katelynn Shae Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Liam J. Daniels, Austin L. Denton, Abigail E. Denton, and Addison Shae Fritz; a beloved niece, Beatrice Melvin; many other nieces and nephews, and his caregiver, Robin Hite.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday November 7 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 AM.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
