Obituary

Jacquelyn A. "Jackie" Williams, 68, of Smyrna DE, passed away at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, Dover DE on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

She was born in Wilmington, DE on October 22, 1955, the daughter of the late Arthur Melvin Abrams Sr. and Evelyn Lucille Abrams. She attended Bear Elementary, Christiana Jr. High and was a 1975 graduate of Smyrna High School. Jackie lived in Newark, DE until her family moved to Smyrna when she was 17 years old. That's where she met and married the love of her life Noah "Butch" Williams on February 17, 1973. She retired in 2018 after 25 years from Appoquinimink School District. Jackie attended Red Lion Methodist church in her younger years.

Jackie enjoyed shopping, and especially loved going to Lancaster and the Kitchen Kettle for her caramel popcorn. She also loved the Beach outlets. They spent a lot of time camping when their boys were young. She also loved fireworks and parades - she was always there to support her husband, sons and the Citizens Hose Fire Company and the Clayton Fire Company. She also loved to dance! She was always one of the first on the dance floor- grabbing her mom, one of the kids or any other family members willing to come along. Jackie enjoyed going away for the weekend on shopping trips with her husband Butch. She especially enjoyed visiting Walton's Mountain in Schuyler, Virginia.

Jackie was the second oldest of seven siblings and an integral part of her family. She loved being surrounded by the ones she loved and especially cherished time with her grandchildren. She was always at family gatherings, willing to lend a hand and make everyone laugh.  In 2004, Jackie and her sisters began an annual "Sister's Vacation" which continued through 2023.  These were moments that brought Jackie great joy and the fun will be remembered and cherished by her sisters.  Future vacations will never be the same.

Jackie's greatest achievement was raising her sons and seeing them raise their own families. She had a special affinity for Crocs shoes and would often ride to the beach outlet store for the newest styles. She started the craze of practically the whole extended family wearing crocs- even the great grandbabies got crocs for Christmas!

She is survived by her children, Noah J Williams Jr (Tammi) of Smyrna, DE; and David E William (Casey Cole) of Smyrna, DE; grandchildren; Alexis Williams of Smyrna, Angel Williams of Hartly, Kaitlynn Williams of Smyrna, Damain Williams of Smyrna, and Helen Williams of Smyrna; great-grandchildren, Emma McMullen of Smyrna, Richard Smith of Dover, and Owen Slaughter Jr of Hartly; and her siblings, Linda Allen (Tommy) of Bear DE, Terri A Miller (Al) of Marydel MD, Debby Honaker (Bruce) of Clayton DE, Arthur M Abrams Jr (Sandy) of Falls Branch TN, Dawn Sullivan (Jay) of Weare NH, Mark Abrams (Joyce) of New Castle DE; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members including a special sister-in-law, Joanne Engle and her family of Dover, DE; and her best friends for over 50 years, Irene and Bob Smith of Smyrna DE.

She was predeceased by, her husband, Noah J. Williams Sr. (Butch), parents, Arthur and Evelyn Abrams, niece, Tammy Carns, and a nephew, Aaron Abrams.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus who provided excellent and compassionate care of Jackie these past few weeks.  We would especially like to thank the nurses on the 4th floor of the Cardiac ICU unit not only for their exemplary care of Jackie, but for their kind and compassionate support to her family as well.
