Obituary

Jack C. Harms, of Clayton, DE, passed away on Thursday May 12, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 76.

He was born in Elgin, IL, the son of the late George W. and Laverna Harms Sr.

Jack graduated from Elgin High School, and had proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was employed for many years in the construction industry.

He was a member of St. Polycarp Parish, Smyrna, and enjoyed volunteering at the Mamie Warren Senior Center, Kenton.

Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Harms Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne M. Harms; a daughter, Linda Ann Harms; a sister, Joann Olson; and a granddaughter, Crystal Scanlon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:00 AM Tuesday May 17 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. A visitation will be held Monday May 16 from 7-9:00 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.

Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newark, DE.
