Obituary

Irene Marie Willey Bryk, 76, of Townsend, DE and New Smyrna Beach, FL departed this world for Heaven on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

Irene was born on July 12, 1941 in Camden, New Jersey to August H. Weber and Marie Elizabeth deMarteleire. Irene graduated from Camden Catholic High School. As a young woman, Irene worked as a Ticket Agent for Alleghany Airlines at Philadelphia International Airport where she met her future husband, Donald R. Willey. They had six children and built their labor of love Willey Farms – a thriving produce business in Townsend, DE. After Donald's passing, Irene fell in love and married Stanley L. Bryk. Irene was very active with her churches St. Polycarp, Smyrna, DE and Our Lady Star of the Sea, New Smyrna Beach, FL. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Columbiettes. Irene loved her butterflies and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved sister and lifelong best friend, Gretchen Weber of Smyrna, DE and Naples, FL. She had 6 children Gretchen Willey-Gill (Patrick) of Smyrna, DE, David A. Willey (Trina) of Townsend, DE, Christopher H. Willey (Sarah) Galena, MD, Alison Willey Seewald (Richard) of Townsend, DE, Eileen Willey Simmons (Kenneth) of Denton, MD, and Rachel Willey du Bois (Michael) of Dorchester, SC. She had 5 step children Jeanne Bryk Tanner (Blair) of Cary, NC, Paul F. Bryk (Holly) of Wilmington, DE, Steven L. Bryk (Karen) of Newtown, PA, Eric F. Bryk (Margo) of Cumming, GA, and Rene Bryk Bookoff (Steven) of Baltimore, MD, 39 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by husband Donald R. Willey, and, husband Stanley L. Bryk.

A visitation will be held at the Matthews Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St, Smyrna, DE, Tuesday, October 17th 6pm to 9pm. The following day, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, 55 Ransom Ln., Smyrna, DE at 11am. Burial to be at Old Bohemia Church, Bohemia Church Rd, Warwick, MD. Luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 and St. Vincent de Paul Society, Attention: Frank Miller, 55 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977.
