Obituary

Hazel Mae Voelker, of Smyrna, passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday July 1, 2016. She was 82.

She was born in Baltimore, MD on August 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Smith.

She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was known as a straight shooter and always spoke her mind freely.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Voelker.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 64 years (m. 7/8/51), Thomas C. Voelker; her children, Claire (Tom) Lilly, and Amy (Donald) Maloney; grandchildren, Sam Lilly, Donald T. (Alexa) Maloney, Kaitlyn E. Maloney, and David M. Maloney and his fiancé Megan Garrison.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday July 9 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna. Friends are welcome to join with the family in the fellowship hall immediately after the service for refreshments.

Interment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE, at a later date.
