Harry Robert Lewis III, of Townsend, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2026 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. He was 86.

He was born in Wilmington Hospital on January 24, 1940 to the late Harry R Lewis Jr and his mother Savilla Isabelle Hoffman.

Harry grew up in New Castle, DE and later built his home in Townsend, DE with his wife and children. He was employed for many years as a union carpenter. He loved woodworking, boating, fishing, crabbing, shuffleboard, and the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas events.

He is survived by three sons; Harry R Lewis IV (Cathy), David W Lewis (Sandy), and Danny J Lewis; four grandchildren; Crystal, Stephanie, Nikki, and Trevor; five great-grandchildren; Hannah, Jack, Rosie, Gracey, and Dixie; two sisters, Lana Brookens and Diane Nobayashi.

He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Lewis; and siblings, Bobby Lewis, Bernice Barret, and Loriane Tharp.

Services will be held 12 PM Tuesday September 1 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, with a visitation beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend, DE.
