Gilbert S. McDonald, age 74, of Dover, passed away on June 1, 2016. He was born October 25, 1941 in Chester, PA to the late Gilbert and Elizabeth McDonald. Gil proudly served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS America during the Vietnam War. He worked for Boeing Corporation, Division of Defense, for 35 years. Gil earned his pilot's license in the early 1970s and enjoyed flying in his free time. He was an avid reader and enjoyed following politics.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Linda Burke of Ridley Park, PA.

Gil will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Jean B. McDonald, his daughter Bernadette A. Fillman and son-in-law Harry, his grandsons Andrew and Matthew Fillman along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Services will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., in Bear, DE on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM.

The family requests that flowers not be sent to the cemetery.
