George E. Knapp, of Leipsic, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday July 11, 2022, after a short struggle with cancer. He was 75.

He was born February 2, 1947, in Charleston, WV and served in the Navy. He was employed for 33 years at Chrysler. George was an avid pool player, loved the Eagles and Phillies, drag racing, bowling, and carried a lot of passion for his 10 years of sobriety and numerous friends from AA. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Whiteside and 5 other siblings.

He is survived by his wife Maureen; son John; daughter Kristie; his bestie, Barry Blanchfield; his pets, G-man and Georgette; six grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings Frankie, Lynn, Sheila, Jimmy, Emogene, and Lisa.

Memorial services will be held 12 PM Friday August 19 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna with interment in the DE Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear at 2 PM.
