Gary L. Coppage Sr. (also known as Captain Lee), 73, of Fairmount, MD, passed away on Sunday April 18, 2021.

He was born in Elkton, MD, the son of John Freeman Coppage Sr. and Thelma Kathleen Ball, both of Elkton, MD.

He was a 33-year employee of Chrysler and retired to enjoy fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola M. Dalton, and is survived in life by his current wife of eight years, Debra Tarr-Coppage.

He is also survived by his only son, Gary L. Coppage Jr., of Camden, DE; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Larimore, of Salisbury, MD; his brothers and sisters, Roby Coppage, Martha Lawrence, and Bonnie Osgood; and three grandchildren, Gabriel Coppage, Samuel Coppage, and Kathleen Coppage. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Prince.

The Coppage family have scheduled a Celebration of Life service on Saturday June 12 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center, 1775 Wheatleys Pond Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977. It will be a covered dish event/casual dress with a eulogy from Steven J. Prince Sr. Mr. Coppage's son has asked that anyone concerned with contracting Covid-19 at this event to please be vaccinated or feel free to wear a mask. The Senior Center and the Coppage family want a safe gathering to celebrate the life of Mr. Coppage and will assume no liability for any such unfortunate incidents if any should happen.
